Somerville, Tenn. (October 22, 2012) – Brandon Brown, a senior at St. Benedict High School, has been named a C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars Award winner.
Brown was one of six students in the Greater Memphis area who received this week’s award for General Scholarship. C Spire Wireless will recognize more than 160 students during the 2012-2013 school year. Brown and other weekly winners will be honored at a luncheon at the Hilton Memphis, Thursday, May 2, 2013.
Brown is an outstanding student and strong leader. He holds a 4.333 weighted grade point average and scored 33 on the ACT with perfect scores on the reading and science sections of the test. He currently is ranked seventh in a class of 244 seniors. Brown is a diligent and conscientious student who is able to integrate his mathematical knowledge with common sense to come up with creative ways to solve difficult problems.
Outside school, Brown demonstrated a fierce drive and dedication to earn the Eagle Scout rank during his freshman year. Many of the values he learned in Scouting are now integral parts of his daily life. He is hard-working, honest, loyal and charitable to others. He participates in food drives, works in soup kitchens and tutors younger students.
The C Spire Wireless Academic All-Stars program was conceived to identify and recognize high school students for excellence in academics, school leadership and community service. Now in its 7th year, the C Spire Academic All-Stars Awards are presented weekly for 28 weeks during the academic year from nominations submitted by school administrators. Judges include educators from Rhodes College, The University of Memphis, LeMoyne-Owen College and Christian Brothers University. Each Sunday during the year, C Spire Academic All-Stars are announced in The Commercial Appeal.
